Please join us in welcoming Chippenham Town Council to the CCTV User Group.

Healthy, vibrant and attractive

Chippenham is one of the West Country’s most dynamic market towns with a population of over 40,000. The combination of the old and the new, the historic architectural gems, modern shopping centres and nearness to some of the country’s greatest houses and historic villages, makes this town midway between Bath and Swindon an ideal location for living, working and visiting.

Chippenham Town Council announce an upgrade to the town’s CCTV system

Chippenham Town Council are delighted to announce an upgrade to the town’s CCTV system as seven new cameras are installed and image quality improved.

The aim of using CCTV is to ensure areas of Chippenham are safe for the general public and acts as a deterrent to criminal and anti-social behaviour, provides recorded surveillance and evidence for court proceedings.

Previously the imagery retrieved through the old CCTV system transmitted through fibre cables, reducing the image quality, but as technology has improved and become more sophisticated, a wireless solution has been installed. This will immediately achieve a better image quality for the town when used for evidential purposes.

Mayor of Chippenham, Councillor Teresa Hutton visited the control room and praised the improved technology “It is crucial that the CCTV in our town is fit for purpose, future-ready and supports the great work the police do”

The improved CCTV system has capacity to add additional cameras through a phased approach in the future. We will continue to work in partnership with our own security partner, Smart Integrated Solutions, Wiltshire Police and Wiltshire Council Area Board via the Chippenham Community Safety Forum relating to matters regarding community well-being and safety.
