Updated: Jan 14, 2022

February 11th 2021

Following the recent success of the CCTV User Group - Martyn's Law webinar (see webinar video here), below you can find some additional information provided in the links below to carry out free training on this and public safety.

The UK faces a real threat from terrorism and crowded places remain an attractive target.

It is important to understand what action you may need to take if involved in such an incident. Nick Aldworth at 'Risk to Resolution' has kindly provided the NaCTSO link below to carry out free training on this here

Crowded places include shopping centres, sports stadia, bars, pubs and clubs which are easily accessible to the public and attractive to terrorists.

This guidance has been written to help those charged with security at crowded places mitigate the threat and help make the UK less vulnerable to an attack.

For site-specific advice relating to your premises, contact your CTSA or use the non-emergency police telephone number 101.

CTSAs can:

  • Explain the threats from terrorism

  • Advise on appropriate protective security measures and plans

CTSAs are trained in specialist areas and can provide advice and guidance on:

  • explosives and precursor chemicals

  • pathogens and toxins

  • radiological sources

  • site and vulnerable point surveying

  • integrated security systems

  • designing out vehicle-borne terrorism

  • threat from chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear attack

If you need further information about any of the above packages or would like to arrange an event please contact your local police CTSA using the list below.

This section is designed to assist those with responsibility for the security of crowded places and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in relation to CCTV and video surveillance systems. Given all sites have their own unique characteristics, rather than being prescriptive, this guidance instead provides generic advice and principles. A link to this guidance can be found here
