About The Event
It's been a long time coming, but the government has announced a statutory consultation to revise the Surveillance Camera Code of Practice - the first time it will have been updated since its launch in 2013. The consultation closes on 8 September, so that gives the industry just over three weeks to respond to the government's proposed document. You can download it from our website. The proposed changes appear to be minor and the government isn't showing any intention of extending the scope of the guidance, but they have provided a handy list of amendments in a spreadsheet. You can also download that from our website.
But what we are going to do is give the government our wishlist of things we'd like to see added to the Code, if not this time then maybe at some point in the future. What do you think? Should the government...Â
1. Expand the guidance for covered organisations?Â
2. Extend the list of covered organisations to include, for instance, the health service and other government bodies?Â
3. Give the Code some teeth?Â
Come along on 26 August at 2.30pm with your suggestions and let's have a debate.Â
