Exclusively for Members of the CCTV User Group.Â
The Protect Duty consultation will be closing soon. Based on Martyn’s Law (the subject of one of our webinars earlier in the year), the Protect Duty would place an obligation on the managers of publicly accessible locations (PALs) to take steps to protect the public from the consequences of terrorist attacks.
Local authority CCTV systems clearly have a role to play in any Protect Duty that may be legislated by the government, with the key concern in our view being the nature of partnership working with, on the one hand, the police and, on the other hand, the owners and operators of private sites that are accessible to the public (shopping malls, sports and entertainment facilities, etc).
The CCTV User Group has been busy putting together our response to the consultation document which we would like to present to you, the Members, in a special Question Time webinar on 24 June at 2.30pm.
Meanwhile, we would also like to invite you to read and comment on the work we have done so far which you can do on this Google document:
Note: The link will allow you to comment but not edit the document.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at tom.reeve@cctvusergroup.com or Peter at peter.webster@cctvusergroup.com.
