About The Event
BS7958: Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), Management and operation code of Practice covers the operation and management of CCTV within a controlled environment such as a control room. According to the British Standards Institution (BSI), it applies where data that might be offered as evidence is received, stored, reviewed or analysed.
It applies to CCTV schemes in public places where the public have a right to enter, schemes overlooking public spaces such as traffic monitoring schemes and private systems where a camera has a view of public spaces. It incorporates the 12 guiding principles of the Home Office's Surveillance Camera Code of Practice.
You should consider gaining BS7958 certification from a recognised inspectorate to reassure customers and the public that the use of CCTV is effective and proportionate and complies with the Home Office's Surveillance Camera Code of Practice.
Crucially, it also provides reassurance for the owner of the system that it is legally compliant and that the management is capable, knowledgeable and professional.
